Apple has discovered a small hardware issue with a small percentage of iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro smartphones that causes audio issues with the receiver module. Affected users can now avail new service program started by Apple, who is offering the service free of charge.
The iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro reportedly have a faulty component on the receiver that can cause audio issues, such as no sound output when making or receiving calls. The affected devices of these two models were manufactured between October 2020 and April 2021.
if your iPhone 12 exhibits these issues, you can simply go to an Apple Authorized Service center and they will service the device free of charge. Apple has also clearly stated that this issue does not affect the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max models, hence they are not part of the service program.
If the eligible device has prior damage that could impair the repairability of the issue, then Apple will require you to fix that issue, which may incur additional cost. Apple also stated that the program covers affected iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro devices for 2 years after the first retail sale of the unit.
